Terrorist Mohammad Fahad, 42, had been abuzz for seven days to press for his request to be transferred to a prison in Bangalore or Jammu and Kashmir where his associates are housed.
Fahad had become weak and the prison authorities, on medical advice, took him to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi. KIMS doctors treated him and after his recovery he was released on Wednesday and sent back to Dharwad Central Jail.
Dr Siddeshwar Katkol of KIMS told TOI that Fahad, who had become weak after fasting, was taken to hospital three days ago. “After being given medicine, he was given food and asked to end his hunger. Fahad has recovered,” he added.
Mohammad Fahad was arrested on October 26, 2006, accused of plotting to plant bombs at Krishnaraj Sagar Reservoir and other locations. He was incarcerated in Mysuru prison before being transferred to Dharwad in 2021.
Fahad’s request for his transfer from Dharwad Central Jail has been brought to the attention of superiors, Dharwad Central Jail Superintendent MA Marigouda said.
