Explore alternative medicine, government advises residents

The Lagos State government has urged citizens to explore alternative medicine in addition to conventional medicine in order to achieve comprehensive wellness.

The chairman of the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Council, Prof. Adebukunola Adefule-Ositelu made the call in a statement on Wednesday.

Adebukunola-Ositelu allegedly said this during the NatureCanFixYou Clinic opening round in Ikeja.

She said: “A lot of people use herbs and so many traditional things but aren’t bold enough to let others know.

“Traditional medicine is what our ancestors and mothers took care of themselves and they were doing well before conventional medicine came along. God had endowed us on this continent and our practice of traditional medicine does today the envy of the whole world.

“Collaboration between conventional and traditional research as well as government regulations are necessary to advance traditional medicine in Nigeria.”

LSTMB Registrar Mr Olorunkemi Kadiku said conventional medicine has its limitations which should be supplemented.

“Conventional medicine does not have the solution to all ailments, hence the need for alternative medicine which presents itself as an option for the treatment of any ailment,” he said.

The Managing Director of NatureCanFixYou Clinic, Ms. Abisola Kadiku, said that natural medicine offers the possibility of medical treatment with little or no side effects.
