Treatment in government run hospitals and medical facilities has become completely free in Rajasthan. Outside and inside patients will not be charged for anything. Although the facility is only for benefited Rajasthan, patients from other states will be charged as per usual structure.
This is one of the populist announcements made by CM Ashok Gehlot in his recent speech on the budget implemented on Friday.
All medical procedures, including Dylasis and tests such as CT scans and MRIs, will be performed free of charge under the new structure.
These facilities used to be provided under a public-private partnership model for which patients had to pay up to Rs 8,000 for tests and other facilities, but now these fees will be paid by the state government at the private entity.
Patients won’t even have to pay the registration fee. Although there is a charge for the canteen, parking and hall facilities in the chalets.
It is worth mentioning that Ashok Gehlot in his last term implemented the program of free drugs and diagnostic services, although it did not bring any political benefit to his party as Congress lost miserably. the elections in 2014.
